Fiji has always been a dream destination for tropical travelers. Turquoise lagoons, white sandy beaches, vibrant coral reefs, and remote islands it’s a paradise that’s perfect for both adventure and relaxation. I spent 10 unforgettable days exploring Fiji, mostly hopping between the Mamanuca Islands and Yasawa Islands. Here’s my complete itinerary, full of tips, must-do activities, and recommendations, including where you can book accommodation and tours using affiliate links.
This guide is perfect if you’re planning an island-hopping trip to Fiji and want to maximize your time in this South Pacific paradise.

Day 1: Arrival in Nadi
Most international flights arrive at Nadi International Airport on the main island of Viti Levu. After landing, I spent my first night in Nadi to recover from the flight and prepare for island hopping.
Tips for your first night in Nadi:
- Stay near Port Denarau, the main departure point for ferries to the islands.
- Take some time to withdraw cash, as many remote resorts and islands don’t accept cards.
- If you want a comfortable stay, consider booking a hotel near the airport or the marina.
Nadi itself isn’t the most picturesque, but it’s a practical starting point for your adventure.
Day 2–3: Malolo Island, Mamanuca Islands
From Port Denarau, I took the ferry to the Mamanuca Islands, stopping first at Malolo Island. The ferry ride offers spectacular views of turquoise waters and small volcanic islands.
I stayed at Funky Fish Beach Resort, a cozy beachfront property with a laid-back vibe.
What I loved about Funky Fish:
- Free snorkeling gear available for guests.
- Stunning beach right outside your room.
- Affordable meals and social vibe for travelers.

Snorkeling tips:
- Go early in the morning when the water is calm.
- Look for vibrant coral and schools of tropical fish just meters from the beach.
- Bring a waterproof camera or a waterproof case for your phone to capture your underwater adventures.
Cloud 9 Excursion
During my stay, I took a half-day trip to Cloud 9, a floating bar and platform in the middle of the ocean. It’s famous for:
- 360° views of the ocean
- Floating platforms with sun loungers
- Pizza and drinks
You can book tours to Cloud 9 in advance, which is perfect for pre-arranging transport and activities.

Day 4–7: Yasawa Islands Adventure
After a few days in the Mamanucas, I headed north to the Yasawa Islands, known for their natural beauty and seclusion.
Nacula Island – Blue Lagoon Beach Resort
I stayed at Blue Lagoon Beach Resort on Nacula Island.
Why it was the highlight of my trip:
- Direct access to the famous Blue Lagoon.
- Stunning beachfront with soft white sand.
- Excellent food and friendly staff.
Snorkeling and Water Activities:
- Snorkel right from the beach or join guided trips to nearby reefs.
- Coral gardens are vibrant, with colorful tropical fish and occasional reef sharks and turtles.
- Early morning is best for calm waters and fewer tourists.

Sawa-I-Lau Caves
One of the must-see experiences in the Yasawas is the Sawa-I-Lau Caves.
- Located on a small island accessible by boat.
- The limestone caves are partially submerged, you swim through narrow passages to reach inner chambers.
- Natural sunlight filtering through openings creates a magical atmosphere.
Tips for visiting:
- Wear water shoes, the cave floor can be slippery.
- Bring a waterproof bag for your camera and phone.
- Guided tours are recommended.

Day 8–9: Mantaray Island Resort, Balavu
For the last part of the trip, I stayed at Mantaray Island Resort on Balavu Island.
Why it’s worth visiting:
- The surrounding reef is pristine, ideal for snorkeling.
- Possibility to swim with manta rays depending on the season.
- Peaceful and secluded, perfect for relaxing after several days of island hopping.
Snorkeling tips:
- Go out with the resort’s guided snorkeling tours for the best spots.
- Bring reef-safe sunscreen to protect the coral.
- Morning sessions offer the best visibility and calm waters.

Day 10: Return to Nadi
On the last day, I took the ferry back to Port Denarau, then to Nadi for the final night or onward flight.
Tips for a smooth return:
- Book ferries in advance, especially in peak season (May–October).
- Allow extra time to reach the airport if you have an international flight.
- Consider a final night in Nadi to relax and enjoy a last Fijian sunset.
